I always thought it was so cute when pregnant friends did belly shots along their pregnancy. Since everyone I love other than Brett is across the Pacific I have decided to do this also to more involve friends and family with the pregnancy.
Before we found out we were having twins I kept on telling Brett that I thought I was further along because my stomach was getting bigger than it was supposed to by this point. While I was being examined by the doctor she commented that she thought my uterus was really large for the point I was at also. Turns out I am right on track week wise, I just have made room for two. I am supposed to get big pretty quickly so it will be fun to look back at these one day and see how it all looked.
Yesterday we went to our first ultrasound and we got the best news in the world. Not only are we going to be having one baby, but we will have two! We are so happy. Brett had been teasing me about the possibility of having twins since we found out we were pregnant but I really thought that there was no way we were going to. When the Dr. started the ultrasound I saw the two different sacks on the screen and thought that I must be wrong and just saw it wrong. She didn't say anything about it so I thought we were just having one. After we looked at that baby she turned to us and said, "I have something to tell you." Our hearts dropped. Then she said, "there's two." Holy crap we were so shocked. She moved over the probe so we could see the second and it was the most amazing thing. I really can't believe I have two growing little people inside me. She said both babies are very healthy and growing as they should. Both heart beats are really strong and as you can see from the video they are both active little things.
We are only about 11 weeks along right now so we couldn't tell what gender the babies are yet. Soon though...
The Dr. said that I might have to go down to Okinawa to deliver the babies and I might be going down there as soon as 28 wks. I will keep you posted on that though.
We are so happy and look forward to meeting our babies this summer.
